The Bangsamoro Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (READi) under the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) provided food assistance to families affected by the recent armed clash between the government forces and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters in the town of Datu Paglas in Maguindanao.

A total of 500 food packs were extended to the residents of Datu Paglas on Tuesday, May 11, 2021.

On May 8, over 100 gunmen from the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters occupied Datu Paglas town in Maguindanao leading to a gun battle between the BIFF and the military.

The town was retook following a six-hour standoff. No casualties were reported. Residents who were displaced in the armed clash started to return to their communities on the afternoon of May 8 while the public market and other establishments resumed operation on the same day. Muslim residents in the said town are preparing for their observance of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
